Before I even start this, I want to say “You rock and you are doing incredible!!”. Literally.

I want to dive into my best mompreneur tips and tricks with you today.

What is a mompreneur? A mom, who is an entrepreneur – owns her own business!

Why can you trust me?

I am a mom to a 2 year old (how is this possible) and to a baby girl in Heaven. I am a contract worker for two different companies that my hours total 40-45, and also working on starting one kinda two businesses, as well as being home all day!

And before we get started note that I do not do these tips perfectly or every week! I am not a perfect mom and there should not be any pressure to be a perfect mom!

Being a mompreneur is an incredibly rewarding journey, but it can also be a challenging one. Having to balance the demands of motherhood while running a business can be overwhelming, but with a few key tips, you can make the most of your mompreneur journey.

P.S. These tips would be beneficial for moms with kids of any age!!

Let’s dive in!

4 Best MOMpreneur Tips

1.) Schedule Your Day (And schedule time for you!)

First, prioritize your time. You must recognize that you will have to balance your business and family responsibilities. As a mompreneur, you’ll need to juggle things like client meetings or pitching your product or service while also taking care of your children and getting them to where they need to be! Setting up a schedule and planning ahead is key to managing your time efficiently.

Schedule every hour, seriously. I was a planner girlie before my daughter but now even more. And yes, your schedule may not always go to plan – but it’s better to be prepared! Set realistic goals, plan out your days, and make sure you give yourself enough time to work on your business and spend quality time with your family. Be mindful of your time! Spending to much time on one task will take away from another task! If you can, learn to delegate and outsource tasks that can be done by someone else. This will free up your time to focus on more important tasks. (maybe your spouse and you splitting household chores!)

I use to be a full on physical planner girly but than I got an iPad! Have you met GoodNotes and Notion? I use my personal to do list planner + my all in one notion planner! This Notion Planner has grocery lists, daily, weekly, and monthly planners, a goals board, and more! There are multiple benefits of scheduling your day with a few being: lowering your stress level, increasing productivity, and building healthy habits!

Be sure to schedule time for you! Get out of the house! One of my favorite things to do is to go workout! I recently joined Burned Bootcamp and have learned to discipline myself by going to the 530AM class. It sounds awful but I get up, get my workout in, and get ready for the day all before anyone else in the house wakes up. It’s so peaceful!!

If you are not a fan of working out, run one errand! Go to Target, Starbucks, shop for your groceries in person instead of getting them delivered (also this a task that can get outsourced – Walmart offers delivery to your doorstep as well as several other grocery stores!), or go grab lunch with a friend! I promise you that it’s worth it! I learned this early on in the beginning that I am a better mom, wife, boss, and freelancer when I take this time for myself! Try it!

2.) Whatever You Are Working on Be Fully Present

This is a tip that is easy to say, but hard to do! If you are playing with your kids, play with your kids! Don’t think about work! If you are grinding away at work, focus on work. See hard.

Life moves too fast and one day you are rocking your newborn and the next day you are chasing them around! Be present! And it is no easy task. I mean I am typing this and I so badly want to go see what my daughter is learning (has she learned a new word, can she speak a sentence, what new trick has she learned) but when I’m with my daughter my mind will start to wonder about updates to the website or a good reel to post, etc.

A tip I started doing is creating different focuses on my phone – so if I am with my daughter or having family time I can turn on “personal focus” and this will silence all emails, calls/texts from my bosses, and/or other apps that I use for business. This way I can not get distracted and start working when I should be enjoying time with my family!

It’s best to understand you can’t be in two places at one time and be grateful for the ability to have a schedule that works with you! (Another benefit of being your own boss!)

3.) Sleep Does Help

This tip, I am still working on! My daughter goes to bed at 745-815 and after that it’s clean + tidy the house, eat supper, prep for the next day, hang out with the husband, work on my fun hobby of becoming a lifestyle creator and blogger (maybe one day!!) and finish up any tasks from work that day! Next thing you know it’s 230AM, and I am only then putting my head on the pillow. Only for my daughter to wake up at 530AM – on a good day – and for my day to begin! THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO LIVE!

***Above is what life used to look like when my daughter was 6 months – 18 months. But not anymore!

The last 6 months, I have learned the art of multi-tasking. (This may be easier as the child gets older.) Now my daughter and I eat supper together, and then an hour before she goes to bed I do a quick tidy and a small prep for the next day! Doing this has allowed me to once she goes to bed – I can work on side hustles or little work tasks till my husband gets home from work! I then am normally in bed by 1030/11 since I am waking up at 5 for workout!

Ultimately, this tip goes back to tip #1, if you have to schedule sleep – do it! OR if you don’t want to schedule sleep, schedule your week and include times of rest.

4.) Connect with Others

Get connected! This can be with other mompreneurs, moms, and even people without kids! It’s important to find a supportive community! A community who understands you are sometimes crazy busy but appreciates every minute you do get to hang out! Building relationships can help reduce stress, provide valuable insights and advice, and help you stay motivated when times are tough.

Create a solid support system. Being an entrepreneur can be isolating and stressful. It is important to have a trusted group of people to rely on during these times. Whether it’s a family member or a friend having a support system will help you stay on track and keep you motivated when things get tough.

Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help. (I know this can be hard!!) It’s ok to admit that you need help and to seek out resources that can help you succeed. Even as simple as signing up for Walmart+ to get your groceries delivered instead of getting in person! And don’t forget family! Family members can watch your kids while you do some housework or knock out some work! And trust me, grandmas will take up this offer any chance they get!

Conclusion

Wow. That was a lot! But never give up. Being a mompreneur can be a difficult and overwhelming journey. Don’t be discouraged by challenges and obstacles. Remember that you are capable of achieving your goals and dreams. Being a mompreneur can be a difficult but rewarding journey. With the right mindset, organization, and resources, you can make it work and have a successful business while still having time for family. I hope these tips helped you know that it is possible to be a mom and a kick-butt boss! Do you have any tips that have helped you in this area? Share with us!

P.S. I read an article the other day about running the dishwasher twice. This may sound crazy – but if you do not have time to wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher then run it twice! If you get your clothes out of the dryer and put them on a chair in your room and do not hang them up – that is okay! THERE ARE NO RULES! As a mompreneur, you are in a very busy season of life and you do what is BEST for you!
