Introducing the yummiest, chocolate, melt-in-your-mouth, chocolate chip bagel you have ever met! These are made with 8 ingredients, in the air-fryer, and take less than 20 minutes. Need I say more?

Background

Why so obsessed with finding a good chocolate chip bagel recipe? Let me tell you! In college, I was introduced to Einstein Bros Bagels. There was one on campus and the line was always so long. So, I had to try it. I walk up to order and freeze. I don’t drink coffee and I had never had a bagel. But, I had already waited in line, so I ordered a chocolate chip bagel. Scared, I was not going to like it – I asked for a side of peanut butter because when in doubt, add peanut butter!

From that moment on, life was different! It took everything in me, not to order one daily! So fast forward, I graduated college and am no longer on campus but need my chocolate chip bagel with peanut butter! This is when I find out that hey, Panera sells chocolate chip bagels but they don’t have peanut butter. *insert tears*

So what do I do? I started searching for a recipe because, oh yes not even grocery stores sell chocolate chip bagels! That is when I stumbled upon “Feeding Tiny Bellies – Cinnamon and Rasin Bagel” and thought I could change it up.

Step Into The Kitchen

First things first, what do you need before you can step into the kitchen and start baking? These are made with an air-fryer, so you will want to be sure you have one or an air-fry oven will also work.

And now for the ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cups Greek Yogurt
    • If you are not a big yogurt fan, do not let this steer you away. You will not taste yogurt one bit.
  • 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 – 1/3 Cups Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Egg
  • 3/4 Cups Self Rising Four
    • To make self-rising flour, you will need 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Mix and then measure out 3/4 cup to use in this recipe. P.S. Save the rest for the next batch, and you can start to build up a stash!

Let’s Get to Cooking

STEP 1: Add the Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and ground cinnamon to a bowl and mix until smooth.

STEP 2: Add in the self-rising flour and mix it with a fork until it becomes crumbly in texture.

STEP 3: Once the dough is crumbly, add in the chocolate chips and use your hands to knead the dough for a few minutes until it comes together into a ball. It will seem very dry initially, but continue mixing and kneading with your hands until the flour is incorporated.

STEP 4: Place the dough ball on a lightly floured surface and slice it into 3 equal pieces.

STEP 5: Take one sliced piece of dough and roll it into a thin log that is about 6 inches in length. Bring each end of the dough together and pinch them together to seal it to form a bagel shape. Repeat for the remaining.

STEP 6: In a small bowl whisk together the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to form the egg wash. Brush all sides with the egg wash and place them in an air fryer basket with some space between each bagel. Air fry at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Let them cool completely before serving.

STEP 7: If you are feeling adventurous add peanut butter and let it melt in your mouth!
